500-hr Teacher Training Program

500-hr Teacher Training Program YOGA: THE ART AND SCIENCE OF LIVING The focus of this course will be to integrate yogic practices into one’s life; to integrate the different aspects of the Self/Atman. Through this process of self-transformation, your teaching skills will be further uncovered and developed.

Date: July 2, 2010 – June 6, 2011. Eight 4-day weekends, Friday – Monday, 9am-6pm. The Monday of each session will be for students in the 500-hr program. Application of the session’s topic into life and teaching will be addressed on Mondays. On this day special emphasis is placed on teaching the material presented through the weekend. The first 3 days, the participants are students, on the last day, teachers.

Maximum number of students: 18 If this maximum is not reached, then students that wish to attend a weekend as a separate workshop (and not part of the 500-hr program) may be allowed to register.

Daily Schedule: Morning Sadhana 9:00am-10:30am Classroom time: 10:30am-1:00pm and 1:30-4:00pm Afternoon Sadhana 4:30pm-6:00pm

Pre-requisite – a Yoga-Alliance registered 200-hr teacher training program + one year and/or 100 hours of teaching experience. Before the course starts, please read: Yoga – The Greater Tradition by David Frawley.

1. July 2-5, 2010: Pranayama: The Art of Breathing.

2. July 30-August 2, 2010: Experiments in Being: nondualism, meditation and the yogic mind

3. November 12-15, 2010: Pravara: Studying Classic Yogic Texts.

4. December 10-13, 2010: Dhyana on Living and Dying

5. January 28-31, 2011: Eastern Body: A Meld of Structure, Function, and Energy.

6. February 18-21, 2011: Western body: The Conditions Necessary for Life and Action.

7. March 18-21, 2011: Special Interest Groups: Making Yoga Accessible.

8. June 3-6, 2011: Asana: Adjustments, Alignment, Purpose and Sequence.

Cost : $3,950 (which includes a practicum/mentorship and a one-year unlimited membership to the studio). If there is space, the cost per weekend will be $360 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday only – no practicum, membership, etc.).
